Tourist Inn 671 West Market Street Hellam, PA 17406 (717) 755-7629 Benefit for Rylee Dorer Saturday December 6, 2008 From the T.I. Benefit Committee: The T.I. Benefit Committee was formed six years ago. We are made up of the T.I. staff, our friends, and our families. Our meetings are held at the T.I. the first Monday of every month at 6:00pm in the Ballroom. Our goal is to help local children and their families in their time of need by raising money for them. Local and national businesses along with members of our community generously donate items for us to auction at our benefit. One hundred percent of all monies donated or raised throughout the day goes directly to our child. Our previous benefits were held for Cierra Lugo, Justin Mackenzie, Trinity Wyman, Aaron Thomas, and Tara Mitzel. Our committee was recognized by the Jefferson Award for outstanding community service. This year's event will be held for Rylee Dorer on Saturday, December 6 at the Tourist Inn. Our committee continues to help and support charity events throughout the year. We now hold an annual Ride for Trinity Wyman. The United States soldiers remain one of our top priorities to support. We send care packages monthly to our men and women in uniform. Please call for details on any donation for our troops or send us an address for anyone you would like us to send a package to. We encourage you to join us. Contact: Annette Thoman or Michele Decker at (717) 755-7629. Rylee Dorer Rylee Dorer is six years old, just started first grade, and has T-cell lymphoma,
a form of cancer that originates in the lymphatic system. Her parents, Amanda
and Shannon of Delta, PA learned of their daughter's illness last October
and have spent the past year helping her get through treatments. Amanda Dorer
took Rylee to a pediatrician when she noticed her daughter just wasn't herself.
When a course of antibiotics didn't eliminate Rylee's health issues,
more tests were run. Doctors found a mass had developed within Rylee's
chest wall. The mass was crushing her heart and esophagus. That October
evening Rylee was checked into Hershey Medical Center. Treatment continues
monthly until January 2010 when the family hopes to hear "remission."
Rylee is one of three Dorer children. |
