York County was busy with a flurry of calls from late afternoon through most of the night.  The volunteers from Hellam Township responded to multiple calls.

The first call was dispatched at 16:52 for a reported vehicle accident with unknown injuries on Rt. 30 westbound at the Accomac Rd. overpass.  Engine 21 arriving just after Rescue 41-2 finding no injuries.  The vehicle was depowered and fire police remained until towing was completed.  Box available.

The second call came just minutes after returning to station.  At 17:32 the 21-14 box was struck for the reported high risk automatic fire alarm.  Chief 21 arriving just ahead of the engine, returning the box due to a false alarm.

While getting ready to work a banquet upstairs in the hall, the 41-04 box was struck for a vehicle accident with entrapment and a class 1 patient on the Cool Creek hill.  Once again, Engine 21 was out the door on the slick roads.  Deputy 41 arriving advising York of confirmed entrapment and class 1 patient and requested a zone channel.  Rescues 41-2 and 41-1 arrived, stabilized the truck, and proceded to pop the door.  The patient was boarded upon the arrival of Engine 21 and Ambulance 41-1.  The patient was loaded and transported.  Enroute, the ambulance met the medic unit and called the coroner.  Crews waited for towing services and cleared the roadway as best as possible.  Great job to 21, 41, and 8-1 crews working quickly in the extreemly icy conditions.  Also, a thanks goes out to PennDOT for their quick response in assisting on the hill.

While crews were finishing cleanup at the Cool Creek incident, another call was dispatched on the 21-14 box at the other end of the township.  Attack 21 enroute with a crew from the station.  Also, Rescue 38 responded in at the request of Chief 21.  Attack 21 arrived to find a six vehicle accident with one patient class 1.  Patient was boarded and placed inside Rescue 38 to stay warm until the arrival of the BLS unit.  Once debris was removed from the lanes of travel, crews were sent back to the station to warm up and finally get something to eat.
