Storm Hits Hallam |
March 29, 2009 |
At 16:08, York County dispatched an all call page to warn emergency services providers
of a tornado warning. Hellam Volunteers began making their way to the
station to stand by for the imminent calls for help. While very strong
winds, downpour, and hail made its way into town, the crew was alerted to a transformer
explosion at Lee Street. And that wasn't all of the damage; it
turns out the winds lifted the roof off of a mini-storage facility, ripped a deck
off the back of a house, toppled trees, snapped a utility pole, brought down
wires, and caused miscillaneous damage to multiple homes and businesses.
The Hellam Volunteers were available at about 19:00. Thanks to our brothers
and sisters from Wrightsville for the assistance. |
